Olympic long jump medallist in Beijing, and world championship silver and bronze in Moscow in 2013 — long jump and 200 metres in the same championships. For a decade she was the best sprinter and jumper Africa had.
Blessing Okagbare is a Nigerian former track and field athlete who competed in the long jump and in the sprints.
She won a medal in the long jump at the 2008 Beijing Olympics — bronze, upgraded to silver in 2017 after the original silver medallist was disqualified for doping — and at the 2013 world championships took silver in the long jump and bronze in the 200 metres. She held the African record in the 100 metres and was, for most of a decade, the outstanding woman sprinter and jumper on the continent and a Commonwealth champion.
